We are about to enter one of the most exciting parts of the Fall Season, the “Veterans Homecoming Week”.
Branson is known to
be one of the towns that pay high tributes to our brave men and women veterans. Branson is proud to host one of the largest Veterans Day Celebrations.
Before we join one of the grandest celebrations of selfless service, here are a few things to know about Veterans Day:
• Difference from Memorial Day – Veterans Day celebrates the service of all US Military Veterans while Memorial Day honors those who died while in military
• November 11th (1918) – On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, WWI fighting ceased when armistice between the allied nations and Germany took effect;
• President Wilson – On November 11th, 1919, he declared a formal commemoration of the Armistice Day to be celebrated with parades, public meetings and a brief business suspension at 11:00 AM;
• President Coolidge – Made Armistice Day a legal annual holiday;
• Changed to Veterans Day – Congress was urged by the Veterans Organizations to change Armistice Day to Veterans Day and to honor all US Veterans that served, not just the WWI but in all wars;
• The 4th National Holiday on Mondays – On June 28, 1968, the Congress decided to pass the Uniform Monday Holiday Bill, making Veterans Day the 4th holiday to
land on a Monday, along with: Washington’s Birthday, Memorial Day and Columbus Day.
• President Ford – returned the annual observance of Veterans Day to November 11th so now Veterans Day continues to be observed annually on November 11th, regardless of which day it falls. As a result,this year, it is the only US Holiday observed on two days, (Sunday the 11th and Monday the 12th.)

Branson Cabins: Perfect for your fall color activities!
Branson is surrounded by the beautiful Ozark mountains. Many folks
consider Branson to be the go-to-place to witness the natural beauty of the fall foliage. Although the leaves start changing color as early as late September, the peak of the color changes falls in mid October. Of course, there will be lots of activities for visitors to enjoy along with this spectacular Autumn scenery, but simply driving along Hi 65 south from Highlandville to Arkansas may be your most memorable day!
November is Thanksgiving Month and one of the best times to visit Branson. Christmas Season always starts early in Branson with the kickoff at Silver Dollar City on Nov 3rd with their “Old Time Christmas” spectacular. In fact, the SDC celebration
is part of the reason Branson is considered to be one of the top ten places in the world to visit for Christmas Season.
