It all started back in 1983 when The Roy Clark Celebrity Theatre was launched and started producing shows of famous country music stars in Branson.
A number of those famous country music stars eventually have also established their own theatres in Branson. These internationally known stars have built their own stage and the crowds reacted favorably. The theater business had been steadily growing in Branson for years up to this day. Here are some of those internationally known country music stars:
Boxcar Willie – 1987 – the first internationally known entertainer to purchase a theater in Branson. Shoji Tabuchi – 1989 – opened his first theater in Branson (converting the Ozarks Auto Museum on West 76 Highway into a theater). He then built a new theater on Shepherd of the Hills Expressway in 1990. Mel Tillis– 1990 – he moved into Shoji’s old theater. Jim Stafford – 1990 – has headlined at his own theater. Ray Stevens – 1991 – took his most ambitious direction of opening his own theatre. Mickey Gilley– 1991 – he built a theater when Branson started to be the boomtown for the country music industry. Moe Bandy – 1991 – opened his popular Americana Theatre.
Some of the home-grown stars in Branson MO have also featured their own country music shows and hosted nationally known country music stars like Conway Twitty
…and many more.
Those are just some of those famous country music artists who had great influence in making Branson Missouri one of the most famous venues for country music. Thus, Country Music weekend returns in September, don’t miss to catch legendary country music stars live in the Echo Hollow Amphitheater.
