From the Pro Shop

The weather is beginning to cool down and with that our Superintendent Jim Pyle has asked the Pro Shop to instruct players of our fall cart path rules. Please stay on the cart path until you are parallel to you ball; enter the fairway at a 90 degree angle to your ball. After you have played your shot, return to the cart path and proceed towards the next ball or the putting green. We ask that you minimize the amount of cart traffic in the fairways as the grass is not able to regenerate as easily this late in the year. To help minimize unnecessary cart traffic on the course we ask that all players abide by section IV, rule 1 in the LedgeStone Rules and Regulations Book:

Each foursome should have no more than two (2) golf cars. Whether the carts are club owned or privately

owned, no more than two riders and two golf bags per car will be allowed.

Rules Question:

In stroke play, before playing a stroke, a player lifts a stone lying next to his ball in a water hazard. The stone has broken away from a stone wall that is outside the hazard. What is the ruling?

Answer: There is no penalty, Decision 24/ 6

From the GM: Try these wildlife control measures before going RAMBO

By now most of us have been exposed to the damage Armadillos can do to one’s property. They’re hard to catch and even harder to control. Some homeowners resort to shooting the Armadillos until they are gone or no longer visiting the homeowner’s property. While this practice is not condemned by our Rules & Regulations it is often frowned upon by neighbors and other village residents.

Shooting Armadillos may be the most fun remedy; however it is not the only solution. There

are plenty of other less disturbing methods you can use to rid your yard of Armadillos. Below are a few reasonable examples:

Use natural Armadillo control methods. (Cayenne Pepper/Predator Urine/ Family Pets)

Put cayenne pepper around your home or garden. Spread it on the ground, and wait to see if sniffing the pepper up its nose deters the armadillo. You can also purchase a container of predator urine. You can find these at area hunting stores; one popular product is called Shake-Away.

Set live traps to catch the Armadillos.

Use large cages and set multiple ones. Set them by burrow Continue Reading

Summer Golf Information

For Residents and Visitors to our Cabins and Condos

JimPyleAs many of you can remember, the past winter was one we would like to forget. One of the major results was the loss of turf on the golf course. You also might see a lot of your shrubs that are dead or appear to be dead. The most significant loss as far as turf is concerned was in our Bermuda grass. Bermuda is a warm season grass that usually grows

from late April/early May to late October. Over the last few years with the hot dry summers it has spread over 80 % of our rough and encroached into our collars. We are located in an area of the country that is called the transition zone where both warm and cool season grasses grow but cool season grasses, fescue’s rye and blue, don’t grow well &om here south and warm season grasses, Bermuda and Zoysia, don’t grow well from here north. The end result of our past

winter was the loss of a lot of our close mowed Bermuda areas. In the past weeks we have been sodding a lot of these areas and will continue to push some of the other weak spots. As for trees and shrubs they are also having a hard time getting started. Many appear dad and some are, some are starting completely over with new growth coming back from the roots. The crapemurtle and the knockout rose need to be cut way back. We should be to a point in our spring that what you see is what your going to get. I hope you’ve had good luck!

Enjoy your Golf
