Branson is typically known for its entertainment theaters and lively musical scene, both of which can be enjoyed at any time of the year. During the holiday season, from November 1st till New Years, Branson really turns it up a notch to become one of the best holiday destinations. In fact, Branson has recently been named as one of the top Christmas destinations in the United States by USA Today, CNN, and Yahoo Travel!

If this will be your first time in Branson, MO, all the tourist spots in the area can make it difficult to plan which places to hit. To make things a little easier for you and your family, here are some of the interesting, must-see places to visit during the holiday season:

Silver Dollar City

Silver Dollar City is the top attraction in Branson and one of the main draws for visitors to the area. It is a 1880s-themed CITY, with cobbled streets that meander through shops and open-air artisans and restaurants. In addition, SDC is known for its amazing theatrical productions, numerous music stages and an amusement park featuring the largest wooden roller coaster in the world, called Outlaw Run®. Finally, SDC hosts the only really excellent cave tour in the Branson area.

But the big draw for Silver Dollar City is the many millions of holiday decoration lights. Their “Old Time Christmas Festival” features over 1,000 Christmas trees, all decorated with beautiful lights, a giant lit up interactive Christmas Tree in the center of town and most notably the Christmas Parade of Lights, featuring Santa himself! The entire scene is a truly breathtaking sight. Be sure to get the 2-days for the price of 1 tickets if you can find them. There is more to see in SDC than you can take in during only one day.

Trail of Lights

Another major Holiday attraction in Branson is the fabulous Trail of Lights. This is a two mile drive through the Shepherd of the Hills Homestead that is filled with millions of lights and animated displays. For Christmas Magic, it just doesn’t get much better!

Branson Landing

Everyone loves shopping for Christmas, even if it’s just to “Window Shop” during the season when most stores try to outdo each other with fantastic decorations. Branson Landing is known as one of the great shopping destinations in the area, but for Christmas, they really put on a show called Winter Wonderlanding Celebration. Of course every shopping mall features holiday decorations but Branson Landing boasts one of the only fire and light fountains in the world. Driven by music (frequently performed by live bands) the fire, water and light fountains spray and splash into your heart and create memories with your family that will last a lifetime.

When planning your trip, make sure to carefully consider where you’ll be staying. Look into renting cabins through the help of services such as Branson Regal. They can help you find an accommodation that has the ambiance you are looking for, is large enough for your entire family, and is near the attractions you want to see.
